This chart shows the yield from Credit Suisse High Yield Bond Index going back to 2010. Bonds with a CCC rating are considered junk and carry so much risk that most banks are not allowed to invest in them. Yields on these bonds spiked dramatically during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, reaching nearly 25%. Since then, yields have dropped dramatically, to decade-long lows. In our view, there may be a little too much appetite for these very risky securities in the current market.
