For more than a century, the humble price tag has served as a quiet promise. One product, one price, the same for everyone. It created fairness, transparency, and competition, and most of us never stopped to think about how radical that agreement really was.

Today, that agreement is starting to disappear. Behind the scenes, companies are replacing static price tags with algorithms that can change prices instantly, sometimes based on demand, sometimes based on competitors, and increasingly based on you. Dynamic pricing is no longer limited to airline tickets and ride sharing. It is making its way into grocery stores, gas stations, rentals, and everyday purchases.
