Software stocks have declined sharply as investors price in the idea that AI coding tools will make enterprise software obsolete. However, a closer examination of widely promoted AI demos and real world business complexity reveals that replacing mission critical systems is far more difficult than generating code snippets. While AI will enhance productivity and reshape development workflows, the narrative of a near term SaaS collapse appears disconnected from economic and operational reality.
