This chart shows the risk classifications for the three big rating agencies: Moody’s, S&P, and Fitch. As you can see, there are many different ways to classify the risk associated with a specific corporate bond.
Most important for investors is the distinction between investment-grade and non-investment grade (also known as high-yield or junk bonds).
