In the middle of October, the average interest rate of a 30-year fixed mortgage in the United States was at 6.92%. This is the highest rates have been since 2008, and they are likely to go higher, with inflation remaining persistent and the Fed expected to make more rate increases in the coming months. Like all key economic metrics, we will be monitoring this closely in the weeks and months ahead.
