In this month’s newsletter, we discuss how COVID-19 has impacted work, a new phone app, and the social media universe.
We hope this newsletter finds you and your family staying safe and enjoying the end of summer.
This month we wanted to do something a bit different and share a featured article in place of our monthly podcast. With COVID-19 changing many of our client’s travel plans this year, we want to share an article that analyzes which U.S. destinations saw a surge in visitations - and which ones didn’t - this summer.
This chart from Visual Capitalist details the "Social Media Universe" based on monthly active users (MAUs) in 2020. Almost half of all people use at least one social platform monthly. Many of these platforms you may not have heard of before such as QQ in China, Telegram in Russia, and Viber in Japan. One Chinese social app, TikTok, has been getting special attention recently after Microsoft expressed interest in buying the platform. The market has been expecting news of the transaction for several weeks now.

Our Favorite App for Documents
For this month, we’d like to highlight an app called CamScanner. Once you have the app on your phone, you can take pictures of documents and then send them to people as a PDF. We thought that this was especially useful for the upcoming school year, as many parents may need to scan their child’s homework and send to teachers. It’s also helpful for anyone working from home who doesn’t have a scanner.

Barry Team Happenings
Beth Parker has been involved with Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) for a couple of years now and was recently asked to record a video explaining her thoughts on how NFTE has impacted and encouraged kids to succeed. NFTE will use this video to help promote and educate other school districts and the community on their programs. Nicely done, Beth! For more information on NFTE, click here.
