Infrastructure spending under the IIJA represents long-term investments with significant construction projects expected to commence by the mid-2020s. The process of allocating funds from federal to local levels is intricate and lengthy. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 51% of IIJA funds will be disbursed by 2026 and 86% by 2031. An acceleration in spending is anticipated in 2023 as federal agencies enhance logistical plans and collaborate with states on grant opportunities.
