Hollywood is embracing AI in ways that are both impressive and worrisome. New technologies and techniques are being developed to turn hundreds of 2D images of actors and performers into fully articulated 3D models that can be posed, positioned, moved, and used to replace the actors on whom the images are based completely. Actors, writers, and everyone who doesn’t own a movie studio are understandably worried, and this new technology was even one of the concerns voiced in the recent SAG-AFTRA strike.
