On this edition of the Barry Broadcast, Liz Garvey and Beth Parker sat down with Donna McKeown, Senior Loan Officer at Mortgage Network, to discuss the topic of refinancing. With mortgage rates at historic lows, now may be the right time to reduce your monthly payments or optimize the terms of your loan.

When it comes to whether or not you should refinance, Donna shared that the answer to this question really depends on *why* you are refinancing in the first place. In recent weeks, she's been helping clients address four main goals through refinancing:

- **lower the rate on their fixed-rate mortgage  
  **
- **convert an adjustable-rate mortgage to a fixed-rate mortgage**
- **shorten the term (or duration) of a mortgage**
- **consolidate debt, including home-equity lines of credit**
